For those of you who have put pods on your bike, what did you do with the crankcase ventilation tube? Did you route it into the pods somehow or just put a crankcase vent filter on?

    Thanks,
    Dean

Mine has a "mini pod" on there, available in the chrome dress-up section of your favorite auto parts store.

I plan on returning to an airbox.

I just zip tied mine up under the seat out of sight and let it vent to the atmosphere.

I put a fitting and another pod on mine and bolted it to the frame where the stock airbox used to mount

As the engine gets older and the Rings allow a little extra blow-by, you could have a problem with venting a little oil in the Crankcase Fumes.

There is a baffle inside the cover that is supposed to prevent it, though.

Yes. Inside the shift cover. I'm not too sure about the 550, but the larger displacements have an Oil Baffle right at the rear of the Shift Cover where the Vent exits the cover.

For those who like to trace the cover and make their own gaskets; you have to remove the Baffle to get the cover to lie flat on the gasket paper while doing the trace.

    It's a fairly large Baffle on the 750 & 900.

Norton did that in the late 60s, they made a big feature out of this honking great tube sticking out at the rear fender. Never caught on though.
