So, if I have charred up all 4 plugs, meaning I had the thing way too rich, is it possible that the plugs get 'ruined'?
I mean, can you render the plug unusable by running too rich?

    Called fuel fouling.
I guess it would be easier to buy new plugs.

If the plugs get wet, it contaminates the porcelain and you just can't clean them. I don't know the chemistry as to why, but I have been told that even using a blow torch to cook it off works reliably, only about 50% of the time will you get a spark out of them again. I don't believe that simply burning rich will do this, but rather having enough fuel in the cylinder to actually splash the plug would be required. Normally it goes in as an atomized spray.

I am curious, what is the effect on the bike of using the BP6ES plugs instead of the BP7ES? Is there potential for damaging the bike? What's the down side and why doesn't everyone do it?

An add on question: what is the value of the iridium plugs over the regular ones?
