Instructions on removing back tire (AKA - POW!! at 72mph)

    Had a blowout on the interstate doing 72 mph. (life changing event) Anyway, I need to know how to remove the back tire to take it in for new meat on it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Remove the brake drum holder
    remove brake rod
    lossen the pinch bolt on the axle
    remove castle nut from axle
    remove axle
    wiggle wheel to the right(while looking from the rear)

    start with bike on centerstand

    Awesome! So I DON'T have to crack the shaft open. I didn't think so just by looking at it, but it sure helps to have one of you guys to confirm my theory! Thanks for the prompt reply!

    I second this. I only have a PDF of a haynes for my bike and its a serious pain in the butt to have to pull it up on the PC to see what I need. Keep meaning to order a hardcopy but I've been too lazy and spending too much time in the saddle. :twisted:

    After you pull the axle out there is a spacer to the right of the brake plate that might not drop out. You'll need to get that out.
