As a follow on from this post "Using Multimeters for dummies..." and in discussion with Robert I have taken on the job of writting a "How to use mutimeters"

So what I need from you guys (cos I am an electrician first not a bike mechanic) is what you want to know. i.e. what do you want to be shown how to test?

here are some ideas from Gamuru to get you started

    How to test the coil
How to test the plug caps
How to test the head light relay

Testing the resting battery voltage, testing the charging circuit voltage, testing a wire for continuity and maybe for resistance, testing the three poles of the altenator (VAC), and that's about all that come to my mind...

What to look for when the light dims when the bike is at idle. Is it the battery that may not be holding a charge? The charging system that is not putting out enough power or is it supposed to be that way.

Plus what the other guys wrote.

Maybe a quick overview of how the multimeter works and a short explanation of each setting that's relevant to bikes.

Sory not done much to this project just now. Got a big project on at work and we have been going back and forth to Germany a couple of times (grand kid not to well. but sorted now)

Anyway was messing about and found this good site about multimeters. Explains generaly how to use them in the form of a flash program. Do work through each of the exercises. Very good

    "Digital Multi Meter" training
