Still haven't found my key. So I called a locksmith. N he said 2 travel 2 my town. It'll be an $100 fee. Then another $50-$60 for the key! 8O

I have no way 2 get my bike 2 him. 2 avoid that $100 travelin' fee. ARGH!!!

If you look at the bottom of the ignition you may be able to see a small tag (if it's still there) that has a key code typed on it. Take that to a good locksmith and they would be able to cut you a new key. Once you have a working key make a spare copy, better yet make it two spare keys!

You may be able to crank handlebars sharp one way or the other, get a flashlight and look at the bottom of the ignition. You may be able to see the tag, or use a mirror it may help.

I think you only have a few options....
Break the lock open with a screwdriver.
Pick the lock open, remove the cap, take it to the locksmith to get keys made.
Get a replacement key made from the number under the ignition.

Before you go busting it up, look at the fuel cap, seat lock and ignition(sometimes on the bottom) and see if there is a code. Take ignition and or the code to your friendly local locksmith, tell them the model and year and they can usually make you a key for $5. I've done this for 3 bikes now, 2 keys for $10 +tax.

ask the locksmith if you could bring hime your gas tank and he could make a key using the gas cap.

Any competent locksmith can get the job done.

I will not elaborate in an open forum.

I'll speak up on this topic.

KAOS, try taking the code in to the locksmith. Cheaper than having a locksmith pick yours and cut a key off of the existing tumblers (which have worn over the years so I'd shy away from that option. I've taken the time on more than one occasion to pick my own locks and then take the tumbler down for a new key. It takes time and patience, lots of it. I don't like doing it but if it is the only opition...

I would caution anyone from posting any means of picking a lock or how to hot wire a bike on the open forum. Please PM any details you may care to impart. Let's not give any lurking, criminally minded dolt the means to ruin someone else's day. Thank you.
