well i just got my first road bike a few weeks ago. its a 82 xj650 maxim with 6600 miles on it. it would barely idle when i got so i cleaned the carbs put new gaskets and fuel shutoff valves for the floats and new main jets from dynojet because one of the originals like fell apart in removing it ,so i got it all back together it started right up no problem so a few days later i took it out and drove it for fifty miles and parked at a ball park to catch a little bit of a game went back to it to ride home it would just putter and die less and less the more i did it
so for the pas few days ive been cleaning the carbs probly about 12 time and still to no avail please help im stumped
p.s. ive checked all the basics new plugs new gas changed oil it has spark and compression

What condition are you intake/manifold boots in?

You're not sucking in additional air somewhere are you?

Were you moving the carbs around at the time to open up any cracks that may sit closed while bikes not moving?

na not even a pop but i was thinking if the main fuse was too small would it cause my problem

because the guy i bought it from tried to jump start it from a running car and blew the main fuse but there was a spair 14 amp fuse in the box that i put in its place and it started

    thats just a thought though
