Not hard, just time consuming. I suggest you do a search for 'mikuni' and you will find enough information on rebuilding carbs to fill a book!

    Good luck!!

I did a look and wasn't finding the info I needed either. Are there any pictures or tips on setting the float levels with the carbs on the bench? This is of course for the Seca Turbo.

This may or may not help; I took the text file on the XJCD for cleaning Mikuni carbs and added pictures, as the late author had intended. I imagine you could take some of what's in there (read: the stuff I added) with a grain of salt.

That does help but what I was looking for was a measured method to measure it with a scale and the distance to set them to and where you are measuring from.

i pulled off my carbs and cleaned them up
then i put them back together
it was pretty easy i only made one or two mistakes but i figured it out
i put them back on and got it to start up again but it ran awfull
so i got teh parts from chacal and decided i would rebuild them with those
it only takes about 3 hours to get er done
i found taht it makes it easier to spray the air intakes and air box with silacone spray to get them on easier (that and a crow bar ) slipped right on after a few well placed grunts
i did find some ve3ry interesting things
my carbs were clean clean clean compare to the pictures on here taht i have seen but i still cleaned them 'zestfully" clean
i did find that the main jets taht i ordered from chacal were to small ( mine were 135's so i had to leave them in
i did clean them up and i found that the tubes were stripped and only the old ones will fit
    so..
they work again but i had trouble with the bench syncing
i thought i had it figured but i diddnt and when i got them on the bike i had to adjust them to get them to idle
so more work and more parts are in order

I have Mikuni carbs on my 82 XJ1100 (4). The bike had been
sitting for a few seasons and the carbs were really gummed up
and dirty. I tore them apart them using the guides on this forum.
I bench synced them also with the helps on this forum. I put them
on the bike and started but wouldn't stay running. Had much trouble
trying to get it to start again. Tore them apart a second time and
was more meticulous in cleaning all the ports and holes. I would not
recommend poking metal objects into the holes. I think I used 6-7
cans of Carb cleaner for both times. After the second bench sync I
put them back on the bike and it started great. I only had to adjust
the Idle speed and it works great now. VERY HAPPY.

To follow up on Chef-Frank's statement, he found that his carbs (1982 XJ650 Turbo) had the #130 and #135 main fuel jets installed. The factory manual (parts and service) calls for #127.5 and #132.5 main jets for his model.

Frank, I'm wondering if your bike might have the retro-fitted factory "power-up" kit installed on it, and maybe that kit contained up-sized fuel jets to accomodate the greater boost. If any Turbo experts are out there, I'd like to hear what your knowledge or experience shows about the fuela nd air jet sizes on such models.
