Good morning everyone. I'm Josh from Coolidge. I'm a 27 year old Air Force Veteran, car/bike enthusiast, and all around geek. I just acquired a 1982 XJ 750 for the very reasonable sum of $600. This will be my second bike (first was an 04 SV650S sold in 06), though I'm still very much a novice rider.

The things I see that I want to do ASAP:
The starter makes alot of noise. It starts, but I want to get that diagnosed or replaced.
There's a small oil leak that seems to come from the cam/valve cover, so I'll have to replace that gasket.
There's a short in the tail light which prevents one side from lighting up.

Things I want to do in the near future:
Triumph or Buell dual headlamp setup
Turn signals from a more modern bike (R1, R6, GSXR, etc)
    Repaint

Overall the bike is super clean:

Welcome and congratulations on your reasonably well priced score! Looks to be in nice shape (rattle can finish is not a show stopper). Everything else looks to be in really good condition. You can source a new front fender cable guide from our site parts guru Chacal for about $5. Looks better that a red zip tie. Starter overhaul is not particularly difficult, there is a write up for that in the archives. If you hit a bump in the process, shoot the questions out here, we're always eager to help.
Where abouts is Coolidge? I'm only familar with the western side of the state.

Coolidge is east of Casa Grande, almost smack in the middle between Tucson and Phoenix. When my enlistment was up and I started working for Pinal County, Coolidge had the cheapest new housing in the County. At the time, getting a 1,700 square foot new home for $134K was a smoking hot deal...Now it's just so so...At least I don't owe more than it's worth...yet...Although it's just a matter of time with all of the forclosures and short sales in our subdivision.
