I use one not too dissimilar to that one! It's a go. Don't forget the filter and small tube as a metering passage. Very important!!!

That should work, as Salty said "dont forget the filter and small tube"

I use just ONE gauge and it works quite well for me, but four might be better.

I am a cheepo and the one is 1/4 of the price ;) just a small amt more of work

Another advantage to using one as Ass.fault suggests is that there could be minor variations in accuracy from guage to guage. Using one across all four carbs insures that the carbs are all synced to EXACTLY the same levels.

I have four of those gauges, and ditto on multiple gauges not having quite the same reading. Also, unless you rev the engine, even with the restrictor and/or a filter, the needle will still bounce around like mad.

agreed on the point of different guages having different sensitivities and thus giving bad data.

plus, they only had one left. so i bought it, built my own yics tool and its off to sync we go tomorrow. (i would do it now but the fuel tubing i got for my tool is just a little too big. so i have to find new tubing and re do it tomorrow. after that, ill get a colortune. sounds great right...

well now it appears that there is NO SECOND GEAR.

if thats the case, i might have to dump this thing. i didnt want to have to learn how to install a transmission, i just wanted to ride a motorcycle.

i've read on here somewhere that if your starter chain guide breaks off it can lodge in your gear selector drum and cause you to "lose" a gear. if you search you could probably find a procedure on how to remove the piece that is causing the problem. It's tricky but i hear it can be done without splitting the case.

If you have the XJCD, the procedure is detailed on there. Mind, this is an emergency fix if you're stranded on the side of the road; resolving the problem in its entirety would involve removing the heads at the very least to replace said cam chain guides.

Of course, this applies only if that is the source of the problem. My understanding (it hasn't happened to me) is that one cannot get beyond first at all if this is the case. Can you get into third, or are you stuck in first?

i can get thru all the gears. its just that when i get to second there is no grab or grind. The engine just revs with no power tranferred to the wheels. so, now i just wind up 1st pretty high and double shift into 3rd kind of low. it sucks.
