carbon vs. yics

    can carbon or other deposits accumulate in the YICS gallery and how will they affect performance.. thx guys ahead of time,must go now

    If the YICS passage were totally plugged with carbon (unlikely)
    then your bike would lose a bit of performance and MPG.
    And be easier to sync and tune.
    You can pull the 2 plugs and ram a "cleaner" rod thru the opening.

    At least two of the small passages into the YICs chamber were blocked on mine. As I was rebuilding the carbs due to rough idle at the time I can't say if this contributed. I do know that when the YICs was blocked off on my XZ550 (it was external on the XZ) the idle was effected.

    I used a length of welding rod with a small bend to un block and clean each passage.

    thx timetoride and kiwi , although i was hopeing for an opposet answer at lest this helps aliminate the YICS as the culprit. :? i'll post again after next sync attempt,i'll either have solved the problem or be locked up at the local assylum :lol: thx again for your help
