Here's this week's model. JasonLion suggested a sportbike version of the XJ. So hooliagans rejoice. This bike features an oil cooler built on the bottom of the engine which replaces the stock finned oil filter and sits outside the block. Single sided swingarm with a monoshock holds the rear tire in place and accomodates the shaft drive mechanism, much akin to a BMW bike setup. It's proabaly a given that most are out riding right now rather than looking at the forums, but just for taking the time, i hope you enjoy this one. As always comments, critisism and sugestions are welcome. Future ideas may include an enclosed bike ala Sno-Sherrif , extensive engine modification, as well as some that push the boundary of practicality and design.

Nice as always! Has a real European street-fighter feel to it. Only thing bad I can find with it is that the rake seems a bit aggressive for a sport bike.

    Right click, save as.

Ah, yes, but sport bikes are agressive! And besides look at where the headtube points, right at the center of the front tire, which should give it sportbike like handling.

Pretty cool, Ian. Thanks. I really like the tail with the lights and all. Kinda reminds me of what I actually did to my Seca.
I'm also intrigue by the frame. It looks like a "C" shape, running from the steering head, around the back of the engine and finishing at the bottom by the oil cooler. It doesn't look like there is any frame in front of the engine. Is that right? Do you have any idea what kind of performance this would produce?

the frame is a "c" type just as you thought. it's similar to what sportbikes have, where the engine is attatched at the top and the back rather than the front and the back, like our bikes. I wanted to combine the sportbike frame features with a raw tube look. I saw somethign similar where someone took a european sportbike and replaced the frame with an aluminum one made from 1' pipes, it supposedly lightened the bike noticably. There's some crossbracing underneath the tank cover and the seat that isn't visible as well. As for performance data, you're really talking to the wrong fellow. I hear the xj engine can be pushed to 130hp and the weight of this vehicle should be maybe 40 or 50 lbs less than the stock maxim or seca due to fibreglass, plastic and aluminum used instead of steel. I am by no means good at determining this sort of thing(the stock power is okay for me) but those figures should help it keep up with some modern sportbikes of similar displacesment.
