I changed out my stock flashers and went with something a little smaller. Because of that I had to change out the stock flasher for an aftermarket one. I bought this neat little variable rate one from ebay that works awesome when the bike is not running. I turn the bike on, and the lights flash really fast if at all. Most of the time they stay almost on solid. By that I mean it blinks sporatically and really really fast. Anybody had this issue? Thoughts?? I have checked the groun on the flasher, and it seems to be just fine. I even ran a wire from the negative terminal of the battery to it. I know that sounds odd that it even has a ground, but it does. Here is the link to it:

I think you are the first case.
That micro-variable flasher is supposed to be used with LED's. I think.

If it's actually variable ... try some of the other settings and see what you get.
    Let us know.

Did the same exact mod about 2 weeks ago and had the exact problem. I went to the auto parts store and for $4 I bought a flasher and wired it like this:

Look at the flasher...you have to rewire it. X=brown, P=yellow w/ green stripe and I=brown w/ white stripe

That will take care of you!

I'm not sure how the unit you bought works but I'm leaning toward a cheap 555 timer. They can run from 5 up to 18 volts and, by adjusting the capacitance value (those loops are most likely the jumpers between a bank of caps), you can change the refresh interval. I'm interested in building one myself but since I lack the time right now, I'd rather buy a built unit and adapt it. Yours looks to be an excellect candidate save the issues you are experiencing (which, by all accounts you shouldn't be).
Have you contacted the seller yet?
