Does anyone know the inside diameter of the '81 XJ750 Seca handlebars?

I want to get a throttle lock, but I don't want to start cutting the grips until I have decided on the kind of lock to get. My grips are stock and in great shape so I don't want to mess 'em up.

Also any suggestions for a throttle lock would be greatly appreciated. I've looked at the vista cruise, but it doesn't seem to fit over the controls. Perhaps I tried the wrong model. The bar end mounted locks are EXPENSIVE, but seem pretty awesome and that's what I'm looking into now.

    Advice anyone?

I do not understand the connection of inside diameter and a throttle lock. Wouldn't you need the outside diameter? Usually these are 7/8ths.

Handlebar end locks like the "Throttlemeister" and "Manic Salamander" lock fit inside the handlebar end hole. You'd think they would know that if it's 7/8 OD that it would or wouldn't fit, but he wants to know the specific ID

I've got the stock 7/8" Yamaha-made handlebars that came off my Seca 550; assuming the same point of manufacture, the ID would be close. I'll mic them when I get home.

All the Throttle Lock you need you can get from the simple N.E.P. Throttle Lock.

It comes with an Allen Set Screw and Wrench.
Ditch the Allen Set Screw and put-in a Stainless Steel Cap Screw that you can turn to adjust the tension with your fingers without needing the wrench.

You can set the drag on it to just defeat the return spring.
You'll have full motion of the throttle grip to accelerate and decelerate without having to take a tight, fatigue-rendering grip on the Throttle.

NEP Throttle Lock (available elsewhere for $17.95)

    To RickCoMatic

Thanks...that's what I've been looking for! Is there a specific model, or is it a one-size-fits-all dohickey?

Are there different Vista models? I couldn't get the little cross-over bar to fit over the control set. It would cover the switch. I tried putting it behind and under, but I had to push out the grip too far and it caused the throttle cable to pull and acellerate during turns like when backing the bike in or out of a tight spot. Also the stock grips have a taper on the thumb side so the Vista wouldn't sit square unless I cut into the grip. I don't want to do any cutting at this point. Maybe it's time for new grips.
