your throttle sticks occasionally at 5-6k, but the cables for the choke and throttle are fine (not tensioned) and the idle adjustment screw is proper, what does that mean?

what im finding is that when the rpms get stuck like that, i can rev the engine up another 1k or so and it might slow back down or it might not. seems like something is getting stuck open.

Did you bench sync your carbs when they were off?
Maybe the butterflys are open a bit too far on idle, or 1 or more sticking?

Sounds similiar to my issue after re-building the carbs. I can't find anything thats getting stuck and sometimes after a small rev (4k or so) the revs will go up to 7k all by themselves and stay there.

My current working theory is that the throttle shaft seals are letting air leak in and causing high or unstable revs.

I Believe it's that or weak diaphragm springs up in the hats. Maybe the needle pistons are being forced up.

You might consider these items as well.
