OK, I am really stumped. I can't get the oil filter bolt out. I have tried WD40 and soaked it overnight. It won't budge. At this point the head is pretty much toast. You can't get a socket or wrench on it anymore. I have been trying to use vice grips but even those are slipping on the bolt. I don't know what to do!!! Anyone have any brilliant ideas?

You cant get any penetrating oil to the threaded part of that bolt. A small pipe wrench might do better than visegrips. If you get a decent bite and rap the wrench handle with a hammer it might break loose. Last resort cut the head off remove the housing and get a grip on the bolt closer to the threaded end. WD or similar might then be of help. I have an aftermarket bolt that has a bigger head for my next filter change. That might be the way to go since you have to replace it now anyway. Dont over torque the new bolt.

Might I make a suggestion? When you get that bolt out order the spin on oil filter kit from Chacal. You'll never have to worry about it again.

Rounded bolt head extractor sockets and an impact wrench cured my stuck filter bolt...

OK, sounds like I'll need to buy some new tools! Aww, that sucks! (dripping with sarcasm). Thanks for the advice, I'll let you know how it turns out!

Used a dremel to remove the flange around the bolt head on mine (was totally rounded)
