    what does a person performing an annual inspection look for in new york state
    i just want to make sure all my stuff is in order and that my bike will pass

    That is going to depend on the inspector some are picky some dont really care The guy I go to checks the lights and looks at the brakes rides the bike around his shop and gives me a sticker if you really want to know what he/she is supposed to be looking for look up new york state vehicle and traffic laws I believe its sub section 391 that list all the equipment required to on a motorcycle

    Turn signals if the bike had them as original equipment OR if it's later than....um...1985 or something like that. Horn. Hi beam/low beam, brakes, brake lights front and rear, mirror (I think), tires.....not sure what else. I know I was all nervous because my rear tail/brake light is NOT DOT approved. Never even looked. If your bike has good tires, brakes and all the lights and horn work, you shouldn't have any problem.
