I need a beer to cry in. I am supposed to sell my old bike today at lunch. A couple from Horn Lake is on their way to pick it up. I took Shinden for one last ride last night after I polished and waxed her. I will really miss her. She was so smooth in acceleration compared to my new VTX. Smoother tranny too. Oh well, change is inevitable. SWMBO will ride on the VTX where Shinden was uncomfortable for her. Last ride she bailed off the bike to ride on the back of my buddy's Voyager. Hummm.....do I really want to take her along?.....yea I guess so. Funny thing is I have been with her only 6 months longer than Shinden!

Hard to let things go. Get another bike one day soon and make it your own. Good to see someone from Mississippi on here too.

My buddy went through the same thing. He sold a bike he was very attached to.
Look on the bright side though....
My buddy sold it to me and now I am "bonding with it".
The lucky one who gets your bike will be doing the same.

Thanks for the understanding guys. Trey, what part of Ms are you in? I am in Vicksburg. Perhaps we could meet up at Sturgis South next month.

I'm just south of meridian a little. Haven't been on a bike in years 'til i picked up a maxim on ebay last may. Put about 10k miles on it so far and enjoying the hell out of it, plus it saves me a lot of $ on my 90 mile daily commute. Will have to check out the sturgis ride. I really havent been on any group rides since i got it, but looking forward to one soon. would be happy to meet up with you somewhere and share some bike tips (actually you'd be the one giving advice, but i can come up with good lies)

    lol....

    #@#$ @#$@!#!@@#

Of all the weekends. I just checked the dates. i got a cabin at the lake rented for the whole weekend for my twin daughter's b-day.

Oh i could still go to sturgis, i do wear the pants in the family.
It's just that i would be missing some anatomy that fits in the pants.

Maybe i'll be smart enough to schedule that a diff weekend next year.

Well I certainly don't want to cost you any anatomy. There may be another rally coming up. I'll look and let you know if I find something.

Sounds great. I still got a few things to accomplish on my bike anyway before i go anywhere with any "exposure".

primarily the fork seals that prevent me from getting a good detail on the bike. sprays seal oil all over the front of the tank and engine. saving it for a winter time project.

Couldn't you have just spent $500.00 on a custom saddle for the Maxim? Cheaper than a VTX, and still would please the woman?

Oh well, what's done is done. Hope you grow as close to the VTX as you were to the Maxim.

It takes more than a custom seat to make a bike a real roadtrip bike. The VTX is heavier with wider tires. Both of these are necessary for a comfortable ride.
