I have the service manuals at hand and i can see(hear) that the engine needs to be tweaked Noises coming from the valve cover leads me to believ that i need to address the "valve lash/ Valve clearance" The manual talks of ADJUSTING PADS

Where can I get these adjusting pads?

Another issue is the cam chain whines.

and occasionally I hear a SQUEEK SQUEEK SQUEEK from the area of the transmission it happens also when in neutral , is this an indication of needing new clutch plates?

    Thanks guys/gals

I tore my head apart to look at the valves on mine yesterday, I dont have a manual yet so i dont know what it means by adjusting pads but have you checked the tightness of the valves? There is kind of a pad in the head that is part of the valves, that might be what they are talking about. You measure the space between the pad and the thing that sits ontop of it. I think they are supposed to be between .11 and .16mm of space between them or somewhere around there...
