    It's a 1981 model which makes it an XJ650H.

    In layman's terms it's a 1981 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim.

    Carburetors will be Hitachi HSC32. Pilot fuel jet is 40, main fuel jet is 110.

    The technical data does not list air jet sizes. Where did you find the 195 jet?

    thanks i believe this is an air pilot jet. yamaha list this number also in the parts breakdown that i was using. does the g/h/j make any difference when looking for aftermarket jet kits. just as long as its for an 81 xj650. thanks

    XJ650G = 1980 Maxim 650
    XJ650H = 1981 Maxim 650
    XJ650J = 1982 Maxim 650

    ok thanks peeps. i see alot on this site about adjusting the carb. on mine i see no idle fuel mixture screw or high sped fuel mixture screws. so how does on go about tweaking my hitatchi carbs if possible. i soaked the carb bowls in c.l.r and sprayed and blew all the passages out. the only part i did not remove is the actual enricher?? i think that what it is. when you put the choke on the four "enchricher s" slide up???? anyway it still idles like crap and when you hit the throttle there is some hesitation. i guess ill have to get a manual.

    Checkout the FAQ suggestions and read RICKOMATICS Old school carb cleaning post.

    Make sure to do the 'Clunk Test' made worlds of difference for me. Umm....oh...and bench sync em too.

    Im sure Rick will reply when he see's this thread

    You will see a lot of posts talking about starting the pilot mixture screws 3 turns out. In 80 and 81 the screws had a coarser thread, 2 turns out will be a better starting point on those carbs.
