well, here she is. nearly complete (besides the very little things, missing a few insiginificant hardware pieces). she was a mess when I got her. I wish that I had taken pics of her when she was in the state that I bought her, but I have this fear of taking pics of a basket case (aka, completely taken apart) and having it not run. so, I take pics after the fact. I had a short I couldn't track down, a throttle issue, and an intermittent spark. I have them all fixed now and man does she run nice. I bought the bike for $200 off a guy in wv (who 'lost' the title and have called on him to get another, we'll see how that goes) who had taken it apart to repaint the frame. if you are going to do that, fine, just don't take the front brake system apart and the carbs too, AND leave them out in a dusty basement FOR A YEAR. I think other than a few bolts and the right side cover, the bike is all there. the tank was sealed and other than a small dent or 2, is in great shape. I used more than my fair share of rubber gloves and steel wool on her. I am basically selling the bike to my dad for what I have in it, minus the 50 hours or so in labor, so he can have something to ride back and forth to work and save on gas. I'd love to keep her. really like the bike. my dad will be recovering the seats and getting new tires and a carb sync. not too shabby for 2 bones huh?

Man ... that story is so like mine ...
Except I prolly have more than the 393 you have in it ... and your paint is prettier ... though my seat is better :D ...
I might powdercoat mine that dark blue ... think it looks good.
I have a fading paint body set, and have a dented tank on the 2 tone ... which wasn't there before it fell in my truck when a strap broke ... ...
In any case ... its great ...
    Cool.

Sweet deal! And great work! I'd love to catch a "basket case" X'er just to compare it's personality to my earlier Max.
