How to get more performance?

    I have an 80 xj650 maxim. Wondering how i can boost the performance in the winter when i have time to work on it.

    A not so silly as it may sound answer (you likely will not like).
    Get a part time job and save the $$ so you can buy a more powerfull bike.
    Wayyy easier / satisfying.

    Going aug. 5 to the get the motor and trans if all goes well.



    I was expecting an anwser like that but i wanted to see if there were some small projects i could take on to better my bike knowledge.
    I have a part time job.. called Mcdonalds : / gotta work somewhere.

    pod filters, better flowing exhaust, bigger jets, better carbs, turbo, gearing thats all i can think of right now

    Just cleaning carbs, polishing the slide bores, and tweaking the carbs.
    Another performance gain: Add your bikes info as your signature
    and your location to acct settings, and add yourself to the XJBikes map
    theres a link in my siganture.
