hi all! i am a real nubie here and also to riding. just got my learners in april and crashed the bike on the hwy. my forks are bent and one rotor is also damaged along with the ignition. so my problem is this. since i live in winnipeg manitoba (canada) the parts are almost impossible to come by, do i get the forks straightened? try to match them up with another bike, or ???
i could really use some help here, my shoulder (dislocated) should be good to go in a few more weeks and i want back on the road real bad.
so if you have any comments or suggestions i would appreciate the help. thanks.

Sorry to hear about the crash. Atleast you walked away from it. I don't know of any way to straighten the forks. Even if they can be, I don't know if I would feel safe cruising down the road on them. I think you might want to try ebay and see if you can find anything there.

Glad you are OK. Try checking/posting in the for sale/wanted forum on this site. Someone may be able to help out.

replace the damaged forks, rotor, and ignition.

Check ebay, the forsale forum, post in the forsale forum, and craigslist for parts bikes.

Good luck, ride safe, and cheers.
Heal up before you start wrenching.

Also...continue the inspection of damage. Sometimes little things will just "appear" after a wreck.

thanks, i really appreciate the suggestions.
all things considering i got off real easy from my crash. good gear and common sense helps, wish the common sense part had kicked in before i went down, typical beginners mistake i have been told. plus i see alot of crashes at the track so i know how much worse it could have been.

Craigslist.org - Web based classified ads basically. Great source but as always watch for scamers.

Try Kijiji.ca as well - it is the Canadian version of Craigslist, although it exists for most cities here as well.

There are a lot of cycle wreckers here in Ontario.. some quick internet searching will get you some contact information.

Good luck, heal up & ride safe !
