I still have an intermittent knock/tick...best way to describe it is after it warms up and i'm idling in does this.....
tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick (16 times) Pause...... 2 seconds then one last tick. waits about 3 seconds .. then repeats the same pattern again. Almost like the chain is making a complete revolution and causing this?? I changed the oil and found very very fine metal (looked like sludge) attached to the magnet ( about half a thimble full)
I removed the sludge and put another magnet to it. It was magnetized. Also found 1 tiny sliver in the mix. ( about the size of a shard of steel wool ) ??
Any ideas? I recently quieted down the chain clatter but this sound remains.

Mine made a ticking that was an exhaust leak. Might want to check both ends of the header pipes to see if you have any leaking.

Only thing is mine was rather constant not cyclic. There was another thread about a cyclic noise - not sure of the outcome

It's just weird to me that it does cycle..the only thing in the upper engine that could cycle like that is the chain i think...As the sprockets revolve much faster than that. Maybe I have 16 sticky links in a row. then one that stuck down the line....
