OK so today is the only day out of the week that I'm gonna have any "good" amount of time workin' on my bike.. FREAKIN' RAIN! :x But anyway, I got the headlight, aux light, front turn signals, n the "bulky Atari" guage cluster off the bike today.

I can't install my new round headlight dew 2 the fact that. The headlight connector is attached 2 the guage cluster.. :? I have an online haynes manual. But the wiring diagram isn't that "detailed" 2 help.. Does anyone have a "better" wiring diagram?

What I'll be doing is: Round headlight, mini speedo n tach, n shorty turn signals. SO wiring that isn't needed NEEDS 2 go..

    Any help would be sweet!

    Thanx

You need to find the feed wire from the fuse block to the head light (or the former resident Atari unit, which I would like to get my mits on). You should then use that feed line to install a new pigtail for your headlight including the ground return wire. You will have to make up this harness, best bet is to swipe it off of another vehicle, like a junk yard car.

N how would I go about finding these wires? I'll need a better wiring diagram.. I took the back cover off the guage cluster.. N that didn't help much at all. I would need 2 "tear" into it(pretty much bust it up)! Just 2 trace back those wires to the other connectors.. I don't want 2 do that! But if I have 2, I will...

You will need a wiring diagram to find out which wires you need first. I pulled out and labeled all the wires I needed for the headlight, signal lites, speedometer light.
Then I needed the indicator light wires to run LEDs I used. There should be wires for each turn signal that share a ground wire. There are two wires for the highbeam indicator, and two for the nuetral light indicator.
Then I labeled all the others (incase I needed them in the future) and cut them short so I could hide them behind the headlight in a plastic housing I made.
I already had all the plastic connectors sut out and the wires soldered together, so there was alot of cutting and heat shrink done.

Ah shit, I wouldn't know where to look for mine!
Do a search and see if you can find the one I did and just print it out (it's 2 pages)
Some body posted a diagram last year that had my bike on it (got lucky!!) and it was very easy to read.
Or there is also one in the back of the Chiltons manual or the Haynes manual that will work, but you need a magnifying glass to read them.

I have a couple of questions:

Heres a pics 2 aid with my questions: (I'm sorry its small. Anything bigger it would get all blurry!)

1st question= Where I circled the large connector.. How would I read the lines going into the connector!?! i.e. the top line goes on the far slot, the next line goes in the middle slot, n so on...!?!

2nd question= Where I circled the headlight connector. I see the wires going "in" the guage cluster, But "not" coming out of it!?! or going into the "large connector"!?!

    Thanx

Just follow the "like" wire colors across the connector....the actual positions of the wires WITHIN the connector block are not always properly illustrated on the wiring diagrams. But normally, if you have, for instance, a green wire with a yellow tracer stripe going into one side of the conector, there will be a matching green wire with a yellow tracer stripe coming out of the other side of the connector.

Again, it's a matter of tracing wiring colors, although the wires going into the gauge cluster from the headlight connector may terminate at some place within the gauge cluster (like the computer monitor board, etc.) and do not really "come out" directly from inside of the cluster. That's really a matter of knowing the intricacies of that particular gauge cluster, and how it's wired internally, and it's going to be a challenge to find someone like that!

why not put in some relays, use the original wires to run the relays and get some #12 or 14 to light the light
    your headlight will be brighter
