My brother in law and I went riding last weekend, I had him give a hand signal back to me when we were at 60 and 70 mph..At 60 mph my speedo says 46 mph, 52 at 70 mph. The speedo doesn't whine or click and has been lubed. I asked this question before and was told ri size could be wrong. Any ideas? I got pulled over the day of the ride befoer the test ( the reason I asked the brother in law to help) I knew it was off but this is way off. The front tire and rim are correct size bye the way.

sounds like the speedometer gear has to be replaced. its easy to install if you can remove the front wheel. My bike shop guy just changed one yesterday in 20 min. get the part off of ebay or chacal.

Never heard of the actual Wheel Gear giving up/needing replacement. But anything is possible .
Usually the Factory lube main bearing of the Speedo unit turns to Jello... causing the needle to 'lag' seriously.. Your Problem :)
Hey! it has been over 25 years! This needs removing cleaning and relubing.. Not a biggie ONCE you get the Thing diassembled AND the needle off (without breaking it) Teeny Hex nut hold the thing in place unscrew it and the tube/bearing comes out for service.
    G'luck.
