Hey Dave! Ever get your VMax on the road? After all the power disappeared I hooked the charger on the battery and it went to 'float' mode just...
I removed the battery and noticed it was down on electrolyte....it's an old battery and the bike doesn't get much use so I just ordered another...
Looks like the battery....I have a VMax test engine stand for testing carb rebuilds, wheeled it over and jumped to the XJ battery, turned on the...
Got more info....turn the key on....no power, same as before. Battery is showing about 12.2v (which I know is low but enough to light the lights)...

A great tool, the Morgan but ya gotta keep them clean. Kind of surprising how quickly they get dirty but certainly easy enough to take apart and...
That's funny! I'm thinking of showing the bike at the local car/bike show this summer and may give that a try....being big Harley country around...
Well, I bit the bullet and got four new TD-140's, switched the resistors out for some brass slugs I made to match the DynaTek coils and wired them...

Double checked the wet levels, all four right on 3mm so I reinstalled the carbs and fired it up. Started at the touch of the button, sat idling...
I got them in spec using wet level checks only....there are just too many little variables for 'one measurement fits all' to be successful....
Yeah, it's always about 'production costs'...can't really blame them I guess. R & D dropped the ball in this case tho because they never...
That they do. What seems a little strange is these screw holes are step drilled to accommodate the larger OD of the o-ring....like the VMax...

Doing fuel wet level settings today on my '85 XJ700X and it bugged me that fuel would weep out the drain screw while I was checking the level in...
Fitz is correct in that the dry set is a starting point. It gets you close; then wet set one of them, get it to where the fuel level is correct,...
I'll do a wet level in the morning but thinking I won't even bother with the dry set on the other three carbs, there's too many variables....just...
This doesn't make any sense to me! Suspecting my fuel levels were way high I decided to do a fuel wet level check. The levels were...
Thanks for the verification picture....I went ahead and installed it, that's the way it HAD to go.
Going thru the water pump on an '85 XJ700X and it's time to re-assemble. Naturally I forgot which direction the oil seal faces but pretty sure...
