Lol it's a sound you usually hear I'm a old muscle car when idling. The loping sound.
I'm just concerned about the "gurgle" at idle. Starting high I can easily adjust down to where it sounds good. It's just fine tweaking from here...
Well an update to this thread.. I got the jets all changed out and it runs much better now. The bike isn't perfect and still needs some tuning so...
The joke is that pods are not good and stock is better :D
I have good coaxing skills... good penetration lubricant and some heat and even the most stubborn holes become easy to work with.
What do you do when your carbs are so changed and different that you need to start fresh? You find a virgin set of carbs for $100 CAD Now I can...
Well decided to drop the needle clip down 1 and well the bike just runs like crap again. Before I did it at least it would go and actually want to...
Good to know and makes sense. Yeah, wasn't sure which way to go so I apparently went the wrong way :D I'll drop it down again and adjust from...
So I'll probably just buy that carb bank to have a spare set on hand and original parts. With that said after turning out the screw a bit more...
So forgive me as I'm trying to learn what all these jets do... and perhaps the air jet is causing my issue now. So last night I moved up the clip...
100% Canadian so I know the jetting is a bit different.
I would be doing anything until those heads were pulled and the valves and valve seats are inspected. There is a lot of corrosion on those valves...
Even if a bike was listed on Carfax.. I don't see a point. The history of a motorcycle is nothing like a car that people would just usually fix...
If they were to steal a bike from 1982 its for a joyride. There is no value in the bike except to the owner unlike newer bikes.
Yeah I don't know if its the picture quality but it looks like water got into that area and rusted out those valves bad.
Hrm... Maybe I'll pick up the used carb set I found and then can do some comparisions. Yeah just trying to get this thing running with what I...
Yeah slides are original.. Needle is different as I'm thinking someone tried to change it out for when they were running pods. So I discovered...
Yeah I'm running into the bogging down low now.. around the 3-4k range where before it was in the 5-6k range. From all the reading I've done this...
So got the proper TCI for the bike (just cause) and also got some proper clamps for the air box boots. Figured since I have adjustable needles on...
No offense to xjforever but I'll look at ebay first before as price vs shipping will be cheaper for nos or slightly used. I visited a local shop...
I was at work during the post hence asking lol. Also as a Canadian xj4ever is too much Don't have stock clamps. Can't find used locally. Not...
Anyone know or able to measure in a quick minute the width of the clamp on the boot for the airbox? I forgot to take this measurement and need to...
They just magically fit in either spot!
Why not find a seca 650 oil cooler and hook it up. May take a bit of fab work but nothing crazy.
Here is a picture.. Its not like just a split.. they are full on missing a good chunk. When I pushing the slides up and down in the bores 1,3,4...
So going over the carbs I have discovered that 3 of the 4 cinch rings for the rubber diaphragms are broken. Anyone know if this is an issue or...
New coils wouldn't hurt. You are definitely running rich.
SR250s are good little bikes for a beginner if they are in good shape. A weeeee bit buzzy at higher speeds because of the single cylinder setup.
So to go over a few things.. Are your caps stock OEM? or NGK replacements? NGKs will be 5 ohm and the #4 showing no reading if its OEM should...
So here is the thing... I know that Chacal (xj4ever) is a good source for a lot of this stuff, but unfortunately because of the exchange rate and...
All super easy checks. Compression is a gauge you buy.. disconnect fuel and plug wires and remove a plug stick in tool, crank bike with throttle...
Have you checked spark plug gap, spark plug cap resistance and coil resistance? Compression check?
Valves adjusted? Stock Airbox?
LOL I rest my feet up on my crash bars even when just doing a small run around. It lets some cool air up those paint legs LOL
The big one just works the idle. You will need to adjust the ones under the brass caps for the colortune.
Problem with these.. is that even though it was "free" or "cheap" .. they end up being the most expensive bikes.
So I found a set of numbered drill bits and it seems like a #56 fits into the main jet which from what I can see falls into a 120 jet size. Being...
Yeah got no tools for that.. will see what I can find. I know of the jet drills.. .but wire gauges?
Ok .. pulled carbs this weekend and dove into them and here is what I found.. The top needle? Didn't think these bikes had needle adjustments?...
Unfortunately due to the "cafe" craze.. the majority of GOOD CB750s have been hacked. But the same falls for any of the classic Honda bikes
The cbx is a cool bike but it's not what I would call a friendly bike. Jay Leno has one and does a good segment on it.
Carbs are next. What I haven't made note of yet in this is that the breakup I'm experiencing happened when the pods were on the bike. That...
Alright got the bike out tonight for some testing. Bike still breaks up around 6,000rpm and just does not pull through. Tried adding some choke,...
JIS screws have ALWAYS been soft and why its so damn critical to use the proper driver on it. People end up chewing JIS screws because of the...
Width can be fixed... cut them down. That is why so many aftermarket bars are wide for.
JIS is modern. The problem is people use the wrong drivers and mess em up. JIS is better than normal phillips and there is nothing wrong with...
I thought about Renthals but their bars aren't bar end mirror friendly if that is your thing so I went with these instead....
Email these guys see if they can help https://www.hoopriderparts.com/category/motorcycle%20parts
Read my posts lol. I posted the numbers.
Sometimes its the small victories to offset the ugly ones :D Was able to find a OEM seat/helmet lock with key. [img] [img]
