Is the igniter box any good?
I'm also having the same issue, but I cannot figure out some of my wiring harness. I have an 82' seca as well. I'm having power to the instrument...
I meant when I get the next free time to do anything too it haha, but yes that is definitely the next thing I am doing to it. from my research,...
Thanks @k-moe! That will be a big help when I’m to the point to where I can check the clearances
So here is how my project is coming so far. Thanks to @joe elliff for being a big help with getting me a whole new harness, CDI, regulator, carb...
Oh its no problem. I have had a ton of help from the people on here and am so far on the right track because of all of that help. Next thing you...
Any 750 seca forward braking controls? Like the m/c? Pretty much need the whole braking system minus the calipers.
I've thought about it, but before I can start a build thread I think there are a few more things I still need to learn and know about. I'm still a...
Alright. It’s a lot, but I think I can get it done. Thanks for the advice and I’ll check it as soon as I get the next chance to do so. I’ll post...
So how would I check the valve clearance? Would I need to take the top covering on the Cams off? Or what would you suggest @Jetfixer? Do you know...
Okay, I did my compression test yesterday and here are the results. I took the advice of putting a little oil down the plug head as well. Keep in...
Yeah. Yours is a maxim correct? But rebuilding ( or replacing) the caliper and pads process would be similar, right? Or no? I just haven’t been...
Great! Thanks for the helpful video. I’m trying to rebuild an XJ750R Seca almost from scratch and have been trying to find as much helpful things...
Very helpful video. Is there any way you could make a video one day of replacing or rebuilding your front calipers and brake lines?
Alright, thank you for the help.
Okay, I'll check it out and then I will let you all know. If it's below 115 that would possibly mean it needs a rebuild? Or what else could it be?
Okay, I'll try that as soon as I can get a chance to. Thank you for the help. So the compression should read above 100, right?
Yeahh it’s always a gamble with used parts and that’s what I’m trying to steer clear of unless I know for sure it was coming off of a running bike.
Still kind of new at this lol learning from it as I go really.
Great! Thanks for the link. I believe it will be helpful in the very near future.
Well the thing is I don’t have the ignition coils or most of the wiring harness, such as the CDI, to be able to check the compression just yet.
Great! Thanks @Jetfixer for the advice. I definitely have been searching all over the sale/trade page and I eventually found a post that I was...
Just tried the bypass system and the motor turned over. For me, thats a great sign since I wasn't too sure of the condition of it so now I know it...
Yeah for many of the parts I have searched for I have been comparing the new to used prices before I get deep into something that turns out to be...
Any parts left over?
I sent you a PM
I found this website called MRC Cycle and they have tons of XJ parts but parts for other bikes as well. I have even found the majority of what I...
Starting to sound more and more like a plan! I really have wanted to get more into motorcycles lately and it has become a strong interest of mine...
Yeah there are always options and thats one thing I have really been hoping to find lately. Even being able to find someone on here who has extra...
The way I am looking at it now is if I can have it running on cheap pars that will work for the time being, I can go back and buy new replacement...
yeah it is :) But it is a good looking frame.
Awesome. Thank you for the advice. Get it running and then go from there. As for the wiring, to get it running I would need to purchase the coils,...
Yeah I'm not quite sure what happened with this bike or how it got this mixed up. For now, I just have to work with what I have I presume.
Yeah @turpentyne ive began adding up just the minimal things to get it running and right now I'm at around $135 in electrical parts
I have checked ebay and have found a set of carbs for around $120 at the least.I just don't want to have high hopes and then a major set back...
I planned on using it as a learner and for pleasure later on since I'm just getting into the whole building process in itself.
That's sort of the situation I'm in. I only paid $200 for the bike in total, but I also did not know that he had stripped this much off of it. I...
So far I have found the regulator, the igniter/CDI box, and the ignition coils just to get started. Would these be the main things to just try to...
Thats right not sure how far I'll make it down, but I will make it to the bottom somehow.
I do have two sets of brake shoes and pads, the tank, and seat. The clutch is still in a good condition and it does shift through the gears. But I...
I'll check that out right now, thanks.
Here are more pictures of the motorcycle....
Awesome! Thanks, and I will be posting more pictures soon to see if there is any more that you all could help me with.
I agree. There is no way it can be a 550. You can tell it is a DOHC
I'll definitely send you some pictures of it as soon as possible. And if you can help with the parts, I'd be thankful for anything that you can...
I located the vin number and its unusual. it doesn't start with a 5V2 or a 5V3. It starts with 5G2 [ATTACH] So I checked it out, and its saying...
That's what my main priority has been. I would like to have it running to at least know what I would want to do with it, but if its too far gone...
That's how I found this forum was when I was searching for the wiring diagram. So thankfully I did find it on here and saved it. The wiring...
So you think it may be a 750 and not a 650? I'll post more pictures and check out the vin number to come to the bottom of this. If I do go forward...
