    I have a 81 xj 650 and yes.....the caliper floats. mine has alittle play from side to side.

    I did the reset on the carbs. the screws were turned out only 2 turns on all 4 of the carbs. I returned all the screws out to 2 1/2 turns....

    ok, checking valve clearance. Take off the tank, remove the valve cover and.......... can I get a step by step.

    How do you restore/clean chrome?

    I used CLR to get rust off my bike. Worked like a charm ! Calcium, Lime, an RUST !

    I talked to a buddy of mine and he said to try carb cleaner. so i put in not quite half a bottle in w/ a full tank of gas and she seems to be great !
