After weeks of hard work and small fixes I finally took the old girl out for a long journey. I rode with two new bikes (GSXR & FZR-6) and it did great on the highway and in the corners on country roads. I found that it runs better with 91+ in it but it still seems to start slow when its hot. My roommate who has the FZR-600 with over 100bhp says that I look so much cooler than him on my XJ since it vintage.

Hard starting when warm generally indicates the need for a valve clearance check/adjust; and I don't see it in your list. Needs to be done every 5K miles; if yours have been overlooked I'd get after them.
