I found another post on here that helped me get this far. My start buttons not doing anything. I took a screw driver to the solenoid and it turned my starter so my problem is my starter circuit. I took the button apart and cleaned everything with a wire brush, I have my book but the circuit diagrams at the back are another language to me. Could my regulator/rectifier have anything to do with this problem, first thing in chapter 6 (electrical system) and I need two multimeters to test it.

Im horrible when it comes to the electrical side of this bike.

    Thanks.

The bike was running. I took the gas tank off for like 3 weeks to paint it and I put it back on and now the start buttons not doing anything lol - so weird.

Are you using the old Yamaha fusebox? If so change it for a blade type one. Is the side stand switch connector clean? Is your battery fully charged?

Yes that is it and it might be the culprit. Clean all the connections and see what happens. The clips break on those. Yes fit one like the one in the eBay link you posted.

Holy freaking crap I cleaned the connectors and the ends of the fuses and it started and all my gauge lights are bright af now too. I did not think they were dirty enough to affect it that much holy shnikeys. Thanks a bunch!

Brilliant it's fixed. Always check fuses first.

You know I did check to see if they were blown and i even took the connectors off the ignition fuse to see if they were corroded but they didn't seem bad I think the main one was the culprit. Im definitely cleaning all of them first thing next time.

    thanks again!

Saw your post on the sword speedo needle from a while ago. That's pretty sweet. I imagine if you were to ever sell the bike and not mention it, it seems like the type of thing that the new owner might not realize its a sword and not a needle. Got a laugh out of me thinking of it.
