Hello, the speedo busted on my 85' 700. I've sourced one from a 1980 XJ650, I'd like to know if this is a simple plug and play situation or if I'd need to change anything else. I'm in dire need of a speedo. Thank you.

    It'll look awful
    Look at this pic:

    Xj700 clusters on left
    1980-1983 cluster on the right.

Your speedo is sealed, and totally different than speedos on the right. Are you going to cut a cluster in half? Yuck.

If you're trying to swap clusters, your tach is electrical, the '80 xj650 tach is mechanical.

The 700 cluster has the fuses behind the face plate. The 650 has the fuses under the seat.

    The wire harnesses are different.

You're gonna have a headache on your hands.

If you want to delve into the 700 speedo, I did a writeup on how to get into it... Go to the xj4ever website and scroll down to my speedo repair article.
