I just purchased the XS for 500$. It has been sitting in a garage for 15 years. The PO has had it for all but 1 week(apparently the original owner took it out for a ride, was cut off by someone making an illegal turn, rode it home, said"wife, young kids...bikes gotta go" and sold it to the guy from whom I bought it. The black chrome appears to be in great shape, side covers are all there.Inside the tank looks pristine .
    The throttle won't turn,needs new tires,battery,etc.
My main question is-how cross compatible are the XS's and the XJ's?
I know I should ask chacal directly, but he has put so much info out there that I am loathe to abuse the privilege.(Until I put in a parts order, that is.)

Hello, this is my first post, sorry for taking so long to post, but feel that i can contribute to this topic in some way.
There is not much that is similar between the XS1100 and the XJ1100.
The engines are basically the same apart from the YICS on the XJ.
The swingarm, driveshaft and final drive are the same.
The reg/rec is the same, and so are the coils.
The rest is a different spec altogether.
I've got 2 XS1100's one of which i'm running and experimenting with an XJ1100 ignition system, which does run but has a few problems to iron out.
Sorry i can't be more helpful, but as far as i know that's it with the similarities.
I originally joined this forum to try and find out how to get the XJ11 ignition system to work properly on the XS11.
There was never that many XJ11's made compared to the XS11.

If you haven't been there already, there's a site dedicated to the XS11.

    Eh... I don't think he'll mind. :)

There are quite a few parts that are the same on the XJ/XS11. Most enging parts, wheel bearings, chassi parts will interchange. Carb parts are the same also. The biggest difference is in the cosmetic appearences .
Cross refenence part #s on a parts diagrams to be sure.
