    Hi folks,

wheh! The past 4 months have been something I never want to repeat!

Anyways, I acquired this YZ 350 and I need to replace the missing air box and muffler.

I have not a clue where to look for parts and what parts might be compatible from other bikes (like the YZ250).

As it turns out, the bike will not work for the purpose for which I bought it, but I am looking to get it back into premo running condition and then selling it, hopefully recooping all expenses.

Any direction on discussion groups, locating parts, finding what is compatible, would be greatly appreciated.

    Mike

I've never heard of a YZ350. You have any pix of this beast?

Nope. Definitely a YZ. It is a dirt bike - think Enduro racing.

Enduro would be IT, DT or XT, possibly even the MX series, depending on your definition of "Enduro". A picture would clear most of this up. Do you have a serial number? What color are the tank and fenders? Does it have a headlight? Is it a monoshock?

yz's were motocross bikes, 2 strokes with a power band like a light switch
i'am remembering something about a chrome lined non boreable cylinder
never heard of a 350 though
friend of mine still has a 250, white with dual shocks and a nylon strap tank hold down

Folks, I was meaning "enduro" as general term to get brains off of a road bike.

The VIN number that I have so far is 2X5005.
I was told by a Yamaha dealer that all the 2X5 vins refer to a 1979 YZ 400. I do not know how to verify this. I expected the vin to be longer, but that was all I could find.

    Hi,
I was told by seller it was a 350. It runs, but needs airbox and part of the exhaust. I'll have to clean the carb and probably replace cylander/ring/piston as seller got it without airbox and rode it so and that is how the person before him rode it ... expecting some debres to have been sucked in and caused wear. I haven't had time to give it a detailed look yet. I actually found it was unsuitible for reason purchased (too big for the riders) so now will simply repair and resell. It is missing the side panels where the number would go, but otherwise all appears there.

2X5 in the Yamaha parts book is the 1979 YZ400F, in 1980 they went to a YZ465
    http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx

They did not ever build a 350
