Will a 1983 650 Seca tank fit my 1981 XJ550H Maxim? I am working on a cafe racer project with this bike and really like the look of the Seca tank for this purpose.

    Very simply. no!

The 550's were a breed of their own. Not much from the bigger bikes will interchange to them.

If you rework the mounts. Then anything is possible

Use a 550 Seca tank; at least you'll be able to mount it.

The 650 Seca tank will be WAY too big in all dimensions.

Thanks for the info! I think I will try to go with the XJ550 Seca tank then. It doesn't seem to have quite the same look as the 650, but better than the Maxim tank for a cafe racer though.
