1981 yamaha xj550 need cheap quick fix replacement headligt

    hi all xjers i need a replacement headlight thats cheap and quickfix perhaps somthing i can pickup locally in los angeles and non sealed beamed is this somthing i can pickup locally is there a universal headlight that can be used also i would like to stop my headlight from turning on when bike is starting so that bike will start a little better i seen the mod but i cant find it if someone can send those to me thank you all help is most appreciated thx

    Whoa dude. Punctuation, c'mon.

    A 7" sealed beam is a quick and cheap replacement.

    You CAN use an automotive "composite" halogen unit, but I would recommend against it. If you're going to upgrade to a halogen, get a motorcycle reflector unit and do it right. It doesn't need to be expensive, and I'm sure there might be one or two motorcycle shops in your area...

    On the 550s, the headlight comes on when the motor starts; if it's coming on before that you probably have a ""stuck" headlight relay.

    Spade, I gots a dinky Virago headlight sitting on the shelf. I don't know the size other than it is smaller than my 7" Maxim. Interested?
