1982 Maxim Engine size ID requested

1982 Yamaha Maxim here with build date of 3/1982. VIN is faded and can't read a few digits. Need to know the engine size so we can sale for parts. Engine has 15R-017855 on it and 2500cm3 on the clutch housing. Would appreciate a accurate ID of engine size. Thanks

Serial is faded but I must be missing one digit. VA15R304CA017355

 

All Yamaha VINS start out with JYA <- Company code. Also, 3s and 8s can look similar, so double check (if the engine is original to the frame, the last 6 digits will match)
2300cc is the oil capacity. Displacement is stamped on the front of the engine, in between the exhaust pipes.

Chacal has a post on decoding VINs. If it's the sticker that's faded, there's a stamp on the other side of the frame neck. If it's short like the engine VIN, there's a way to convert it to 17 digits. If you give him the engine VIN he'll be able to get you the right parts.

15R lines up with a 750 maxim

 

15R-017855 is all you need. (2500CM3 is the oil capacity, CM3=CC's.)

The "15R" tells us it's a 1982 USA-Market 750 Maxim.

I didn't want to list it until I know what the engine size is. Was intending to CL it.
