I just posted this on the Seca Turbo Forum (turbomotorcycles.org)under BigDavesTurbo. 82secaturbo was already taken damnit!

New to the boards. Lotta' great info on here. I really love these old turbo bikes. Found a nice example of a blue 1982 Seca Turbo a few weeks ago for next to nothing and grabbed it up. I have since added a Vision 18" front wheel and will look to do a brake upgrade here soon. You have to start stopping before you really get going on these bikes due to the brakes. LOL

Anyway, I have disconnected the waste-gate line and she boosts up to 15psi quite quickly. I know the box doesn't allow for more than that without modding the box. I may do that here soon. Anyway, I figure that going past the 15psi mark will probably put me in the lean side of things an put the turbo way out of efficiency range anyway.

I have a Greddy AIC (Aux injector controller) with 3 extra injectors. The injectors are kind of small at 19lbs/hr. The AiC is completely tunable to run 1, 2, 3 or even more injectors if needed, for any boost application. I also have a VJ11 in great shape that was on a low mileage Mercury Capri XR2. It is a little bigger that the TC03 and much smaller than the T25/28 that I put on the car. I was looking at installing the slightly larger turbo on the bike. Maybe trying a hybrid of the VJ11 and TC03. Not sure until I get the TC03 off and check it out. Anyway, there will be a turbo upgrade here in the future along with the AIC. Just looking for some inputs and ideas from you guys that have been toiling over these bikes.

I am also about to get a 1985 Maxim X for a daily driver and it comes with an extra motor. I know the Maxim motors will fit in our bikes frames as it has been done by a couple of people on the XJbikes forum. The spare motor has low compression and may have blown a head gasket. Anyway I plan on having the motor gone through. I was just curious what you guys think about that?

The Maxim X motors make 85hp @ 9000rpm as it is. I know the compression (10:1) is a huge factor and I will need to lower it to run with the turbo. I imagine forged pistons that have been lathed down will work or maybe the stock pistons with extra case and head gaskets installed will be usable if boost is kept sane. One thing about the pistons I found out was that the 14 degree engine angle dropped the pistons down too far in the hole on the FZ700/Fazer crank that was used and the pistons had to be made extra tall to get the compression needed, that's why they only have a 10k red-line and FZ700/Fazer motors had 11k red-lines. I feel pretty confident that cutting the dome off will put me where I need to be as far as compression, but the expense may be a hurdle.

The motors extra cc's and efficiency of the head will more than make up for a small drop in compression. It shouldn't hurt it too bad at all and I will still be able to run the more efficient turbo, extra injector(s) and possibly a small inter-cooler and/or water/alky injection. I know top speed is limited to about 135mph, maybe a bit more with the higher Maxim X red-line, but I just want to get there real quick!

Yes I know I need to install the Seca Turbo carbs on the Maxim X motor. Can't wait to tackle that beast!
