    This engine and electrical parts have been used for more than one year of bike - what model years have interchangable engine and electrical parts ?
    Thanks in advance

    The 81 to 83 Seca and Maxims have the same engines with the exception of the cams from what I have found out. I think the electrical is the same too. The harnesses are probably different though because different frames are used.The CDI box might be different too. Not sure though.

    The 550 Seca and Max motors do have different cams;

    The carbs are jetted differently;

    The electrical is nearly the same except the Seca has a fuel gauge and voltmeter the Max doesn't have.

    Frame, front forks, rear brake, gas tank/seat: all different.

    Strange factoid: they both came with the same handlebar...

    XJ/FJ600 is a bolt in swap, or you can overbore the 550 to fit the 600 pistons, swap heads with carbs (no YICS) cams have more lift

    They're a crap shape, first thing I changed
