    Hi again
I am full steam ahead with getting my 750 on the road. Waiting on a bunch of parts. Was able to source alot locally (Australia).
Doing oils, filters, steering head bearings, full brake rebuilds and a few other things as well havn't touched the carbies yet but ive been reading the how tos.
I have run into a small snag re the caliper rebuilds. I cant get the caliper pin dust boots here and couldn't find them in the xj4ever catalogue.
Question, did I just miss it in there?
If they cant be had could i use a universal dust boot, i'm thinking like a little concertina rubber thingy (like a mini gattor looking thing) or is there another model's boot that will fit?
    Thanks in advance.
I'll put up some photos in the build diary after this weekend.

    Here they are!

HCP9813SET2 Aftermarket brake caliper mounting plate pin rubber DUST BOOTS, used on either side of the joining pin that retains the caliper body to the retainer plate. This specially formed accordion bellows boot is usually disintegrated on original calipers, and interferes or prevents the caliper from "floating" properly against the retainer plate. Use 2 per caliper on all XJ550 models, 1981-83 XJ750 Seca, XJ750 Euro, and all XJ1100 and 1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special front calipers only. This set of two boots does one caliper.

    Hi Len,
Some guys in forum saying leave the boots alone or if in decent shape. I have one that has a small crack in it I don't think it'll be an issue but I'd like to hear your thoughts it doesn't look like they just pop out. They keep dust off pin right?

    Hi Len,
Should my new pads be tight in the caliper, should I be able to manipulate the pad back and forth by hand easily.....once the pin is installed? I def had to use tools to get the pad pin through its opp side hole. I used a wooden shim and narrow screwdriver to sep the pads to get calipers back on, being carefule not to touch the pad faces.

Also, I installed new set of Galfer Brake lines .. I haven't tightened everything down yet. Per galfer, torque on the new banjo bolts is 15lbs( ssteel), how about torque on caliper ret bolts?

Yes, if the boots are in good shape (no cracks/splits, still soft) then it's okay to re-use them.

    Correct!

No, the new pads should slide smoothly on the pins, there may be a build-up of coating in the pin hole, you can use a small file to knock off the coating (paint or powdercoating) and/or ream the hole out just a bit. The pads must be able to slide smoothly on the pin. A touch of red brake grease might help, too.

    32.5 ft-lbs.
