Time to admit the economy has kicked my butt and move this one out. Bike needs, carbs cleaned, floats sticking, new tires. The last time I rode it the bike had great power. Has a Bad Boy air horn on it. Oil, filter, and plugs have been changed twice since it started pushing the gas through the air filter box. I no longer have the funds or will to mess with the bike. Clean Title in hand. Listed on craigslist for $900.00. Seat and back rest just recovered, gas tank repainted, changed head light, speedometer and signal lights out as I was going to make it MINE. Have original parts except for speedometer and tack. Also have still in package the oil filter bolt I failed to replace. Plastic headlight assembly was broken and taped when I bought the bike. Only had 41,000 miles on engine when I started my make over.

Well...........if you gave her the money, and she left you the next week, seems to me you're better off now. WE didn't leave, and you didn't even give us any money!

Changing the plugs won't kee the gas from pushing into the airbox. Fixing a leaky petcock, or a stuck float will.

Stay with us man--------- you CAN make that bike YOURS, and it doesn't have to get expensive. That 82 XJ750Maxim can become a nice bike.

Thanks, but it comes down to simple economics. The upkeep, insurance, and a bad back are forcing me to make choices that are best for me. No need in the bike sitting. I know it's the floats sticking open thanks to some detective work on here and some words of wisdom from the experts here. I am unable to work on the bike myself any more thanks to disc problems.
    :( :( :(
And you are correct...you folks have been here and been very friendly, helpful and understanding.

I am sorry to hear about your situation man. I put my back 'out' 3 years ago and it was the most painful thing that ever happened to me.

The economy has been especially hard on Fort Smith in the last 2 years, I know you guys have lost jobs left and right down there. It's not right because they are just the type of jobs we (America) can't afford to lose - but the corporations are all selling out to cheap foreign labor - They should be ashamed and be stopped.

Don't give up though. If you have to sell I understand, but don't give up. Things will get better after all they almost have nowhere else to go but up. I wish you only the best of luck and hope things improve for you - quickly.

BTW-The jobs are opening up in Springdale, don't know what your looking for but it's growing up here again.

Thanks Mercuryman. Mine is alot more complicated. Workers Comp injury and they are fighting tooth and nail. And any Lawyer that looks at you case and tells you they can win before they get all the medical report is either nuts or lying. The laws in the state of Arkansas are stack in favor of the employer. Have put my 97 Chevy Truck up for sale as well. Thing will get better, just have to let go of the things that I can live without. May have to consider parting it out if nothing else, but that would be a pain. I'll drop the price before I do that...Ride Hard!

Thanks to all of you for your support and advice. I just sold the Bike. I didn't have the funds or time to treat her right. Told the new owner about the site so if you see some guy on here from the Fort Smith, Arkansas area asking some questions about the carbs and stuff I sent him here for EXPERT ADVICE! Guess I will be signing off for good in a few days.

Your not gone for good. Half of those bikes in your list are yamahas. You'll be back before you know it.

When you are ready for another bike. Just jump on, and start looking, I am sure you will find someone that will set you up with another XJ.
