Hey so this is my first bike and my first time posting on this site. I have a 1982 Yamaha xj750r and I cleaned the carbs my self and I think the carbs are nice and clean and everything. But I have a battery light on and I replaced the battery 2 times already, I just replaced the rectifier regulator, I belive I tested the stator and it ohm’d out good. But I’m having issues where I’ll start it up and it’ll run fine and then I go to drive it and then it acts like it just stops sparking, I haven’t been able to test it yet but does anyone have any ideas? And the spark plugs look pretty good too.

Does it die when you put it in gear? Is the kickstand down? There is a switch that detects if the kickstand is down and will kill the ignition if you put it in gear. If that switch or the wiring is bad, it may also happen from just putting it in gear whether up or down. I believe there is also a relay involved that may contribute.

This thread has more info about it.
