    Hi All-

I've toyed with this idea for awhile, and now I'm going to attempt it: I think it would be interesting to see just how many/few of these that are still around. I want to limit this to the 1983 year, since that is what mine is. I know there's quite a few that are mentioned on this list, and I won't be able to document every single one still in existence, but it would be interesting to see what's left, in production-serial-order. I'll compile the list and update every now and then. I don't need a lot of info, but let's include the following, and I'll put mine on to start.

Name state last 4 serial # digits color condition mods mi

Dave Fox NY 0117 red near new none 35,000

I don't mind if you want to keep you name private, just give me a "fake" name or even just your handle on XJBikes would work. If you wish to add to this forum, I'll copy/paste into a different document. If you wish to reply directly, you can PM the info to me.

If you wish to see mine, it's in my gallery.

    Thanks!

    Dave Fox

Wow, you've got one of the first ones made (serial numbers started with 000101).

What would also be very useful is to have folks include the BUILD DATE (mm/yy) that is on the white sticker on the steering headpipe.

Here's all the vin's I've accumulated for the 35H (USA) 900RK models........note that I've been keeping this list just to find out the highest and lowest VIN's ever made, not trying to gather a complete roster.

    JYA35H00XDA000189
    JYA35H002DA001532
    JYA35H002DA001628
    JYA35H000DA001903
    JYA35H009DA002015

P.S. all of the 35H models will be red......originally, that is!

    Hi Len,

Hey, I didn't know you were already keeping a list. I guess the thing to do would be to stay in contact with you and if I get emails or pm's, forward that to you. I'll start a document, or spreadsheet or something anyway.

Yes, I know it's one of the earliest ones...the 17th one :) I also haven't forgotten the fact the you want a picture of the windshield sticker. I just haven't been able to get a good clear one yet. Each time I do try, I get glare, or haze, and the last time I tried the battery went dead right in the middle of processing. Grrr.

    Hey John42.......thanks for the info!

Hopefully some of the others on the list will contribute, too.

Len, I'll also forward a complete vin # to you, as well.

Hey Dave...........I already have it! And besides, I can construct your complete VIN from just those last 4 digits (0117)............ :D

I have three frames, but one complete bike. So the frames without a running engine, etc. are moot. The last 4 of the bike that actually is a complete, running, nice copy is:

    1231
    15,000 and change miles.
    No mods. ALL original.

Again, I'm assuming you want full, running bikes to determine just how many viable machines are still on the road. Thanks.

Breaker19, Not necessarily.......if we know where a dead one is, that helps locate them, too, and I'll note that on the list. I've already cut/pasted the info you gave me via the emails.

Len, I've gotten a few more numbers, in a couple of days I'll shoot an email to you.

    Thanks,

    Dave

I'd like to know if anyone can confirm or refute the "rumor/factoid" that there were 1,000 only in America. My concern is that we could just be reading and repeating the same info. My VIN# would tend to indicate more than 1,000

    TIME - - Florida
    1208 - - factory paint still shining
unrestored, a few nicks, runs great
    4 into 1 , holes in airbox , mirrors , signals
    29,500 - - built 3/83

Previous 900 sold in 1990 to a guy who said he would build a 3 wheel dirt bike in Nebraska. Presumed dead.

    Thanks Dave.

Assuming that TIME's information was clear and read correctly, his build date of 3/83 should put it kind of near the ned of the mfg. run, and his serial number of 1208 is the 11108th one built.

Sean, your serial number or build date (which u said is hard to read) is off.....might be that the build date is 2/83 instead of 5/83 (2's and 5's are eay to confuse in that style of font)........because if TIME is correct, then your #1084 had to be built before his #1208, unless ome kind of time-warp occurred........

    chacal,
I see the 35H #s' you have for the U.S does not include my 35H001DA does that mean mine wasn't U.S?

I just looked at the 900rk and found out I lied......it doesn't have 35,000 mi. It only has 31,000.

Len, I have 12 bikes on the data list now.

Interesting.....I suppose it would be too sensible to contact Yamaha HQ and ask the question how many went to the US?

Dave, what's the build date of your bike? It seems most of them were built in March '83......
