I'm thiniking about buying a pair the said mufflers to fit them on my 1983 Seca900. I found what looks like decent ones today on a local ad for a reasonable price.

The bent of the mufflers looks the same as original Seca900 mufflers, but i'm concerned with the inlet diameter.

Can anyone tell me what is the exact diameter of the inlet end of OEM mufflers for the 1983 Seca900? or the diameter of the oulet end of the collector box?

So, you were right, you sent me that answer in March 2016. For the record, the outer diameter of the collector box outlets is 1.5 inch. Add an anhaust to muffler gasket 1/8 inch thick, it means the inner diameter of the muffler should be 1 3/4 inch to fit perfectly. If smaller, I'd need a thinner sleeve , not the standard gasket.

    Also, for the record----

The mufflers for the 1984 XJ750rl will also fit----they are just slightly shorter. If you use the muffler hanger bolt as a reference point, there's only about a 1/4" difference to one end and not much more difference to the other end. It's been awhile since I made that comparison, but it's a minimal difference. When one is in place, either a small extension. Can be made for the hanger (and the muffler can slide all the Way up on the collector outlet, or the hanger can be used and the muffler only slides partway up the outlet. The result, either way is very difficult to tell unless you know what you are looking at.

    1. If the muffler is all the way forward...... The extension will be almost invisible if it's painted a semi-gloss black. The front of the muffler will tuck in nicely behind the collector box trim. The outlet end of the muffler will look 'shorter' but not by much

    2. If the muffler is centered on the hanger.......the front of the muffler still is on the collector outlet, but not by as much. There may be a slight gap between the collector trim and the muffler, but it doesn't look any different than on many maxims and secas. The muffler outlets is ever so slightly shorter than a stock 900, but unless you know where the end of the 900 should exactly reach, you won't notice any difference unless you measure.

THanks for the information about the XJ750rl mufflers. This model is even rarer than the XJ900rk, but who knows when one will get part out?

I will probably change my mind and go for fj1200 mufflers, even though they are black, i'm sure they will fit with minimum work, because I've already seen a pair of them on a XJ750rl.
