Rusty frame, rusty exhaust, missing the ignition timing cover, looks like the wiring harness was cobbled together, paint is all messed up, missing kickstand, bald tires.
    Parts bike. ;)

When you search the original model it looks like the FJ/XJ 600 or even XJ900, I didn't even know they existed but it was most likely a JDM model only

I bet that's one rare puppy though.................surprisingly complete, although any replacement parts might be Dave-Unobtanium squared.

I have a feeling that more than a few of those parts are hand made, one of a kind.

See! Someone gets it! Honestly, I always know what I mean, but don't always communicate that well. I'll try to be more clear.

Being liquid cooled that motor would have originated from the FZ400, not to be confused with the FZR400

Hmmm, I took another look at K-moe's web site he referenced for the XJ400Z and it is also a liquid.
When I first looked I assumed this XJ400Z was just a smaller FJ/XJ600.
So I agree, the motor likely came from the 1983 XJ400Z and the Moriwaki chassis probably pre-dates the 84 FZ400R.

I can't be the only one who likes that double-round-headlight look? I would take one w/ 600cc, like an FZR600R

We don't have access to the FZ400R however an 86-88 FZ600 is the same bike but with the air-cooled XJ/FJ/YX600 motor.
Gotta love the Yamaha parts bin engineers.
