For Sale 1986 Yamaha Maxim XJ700 - Perfect Condition - 4k Miles

Purchased this bike in 2013 from Scott's Powersports in Center Valley, PA (trade-in from original owner) with 2,700 miles on it. At the time of purchase, it as completely gone over by the shop (brakes, oil, carb. service, etc.). The bike currently has 4,150 miles on it and is in absolute perfect condition (both mechanically and body), and completely stock. The bike is registered, inspected, and insured in PA until July 2016. Oil and shaft drive oil recently changed (last 50 miles). I am selling because I do not have time to ride it as much as it deserves to be ridden.

In many of the pictures, there is a custom bicycle rack in place of the passenger seat. There are no permanent modifications done to the motorcycle to accommodate this rack, it simply bolts in place of the passenger seat. The rack can come with the bike upon purchase if requested - the passenger seat is in perfect condition and will come with the motorcycle regardless.

The only blemish that I know of is a small ding in the front fender, shown in the attached pictures.

I am asking $3,000 OBO for the bike, which I believe to be fair based on the condition of the motorcycle

Holy crap, those pipes are awful blue for only 4k miles.....

I have always like the Maxim X seats better than the standard airhead seats anyway..... Those X seats look real nice on your bike.

Price is a bit steep for this area, but depending where you are -- you may want/need to haggle a bit.

 

It's also the first airhead 700 that I have seen that has a black engine rather then aluminum colored

That is a nice looking bike! $3k is reasonable if all the maintenance is done and it's truly a ride off and enjoy affair. It can cost a grand easy to get one of these road worthy.

You did come to the most knowledgeable XJ site in the universe so don't be offended if others point out things that may not be factory correct. We see a lot of people join up here and their first post is an attempt to sell a bike. We certainly appreciate you giving us first crack but keep in mind these good people know these bikes in and out and will gladly point out something that is amiss.

Sorry to everyone that posted in this thread, for some reason I did not receive any updates when people posted here. I appreciate all of the comments! I'm not as familiar with these bikes as you guys are (obviously), so any added info is good info.

The bike is still for sale, and I'm in a push to get it sold sooner rather than later. I've decided to drop the price to $2600 if anyone is interested.
