I'm the newest owner of my 1986 Yamaha XJ700 Maxim & I live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I used to have a 1986 Yamaha Virago 750 almost 27 years ago now and have missed riding since I sold it in 1993. I used to have a 1986 Yamaha Virago 750 almost 27 years ago now and have missed riding since I sold it in 1993. I've run into a few issues with the bike, getting parts being one of those problems! I've seen a few different XJ700 model designations such as XJ700S, XJ700SC, XJ700N, etc.. How do figure out which version you have? My ownership doesn't specify it and there is nowhere on the bike I can find it? Is there a website I can run my VIN that will tell me? Thanks!

You are in luck! At the top right corner of every page here is a link to XJ4ever's catalog containing just about everything you need to keep your bike running and looking pretty. There are also many articles in that catalog covering some maintenance and XJ specific items, including how to decode the VIN:http://www.xjbikes.com/forums/threads/tech-topic-model-id-and-vins.14577/
It's not as easy as just plugging in a number and having a model/year pop out, but it is all very thoroughly explained.

    Welcome!
