1988 xj900f; Left hand switch/choke dissassembly

    .. I try to dismantle the switch to get to the faulty indicator switch but cannot get the halves of each other, the round choke lever is blocking it?>
    Is there a non-destructive way to do this??
    The manual is silent about it..
