I purchased these two because I got taken on some parts on eBay. I figured I would take them apart and keep some parts, and get rid of the rest. Problem is that I have a hard time parting out bikes that are complete and have titles. They are to nice too hack up IMO.

Bike 1 is a low mile bike with just over 5k miles. I know this because the front tire is the original. It also has a motor from an 81. I don't know why. I didn't notice it untill I got my mint low mile 82 and I realized that an 82 has black paint on the jugs. I Have the footpegs and brackets. I pulled the carbs off and put them on my 81 to see if it would start, It did, but they clogged after a couple minutes. They'll need a rebuild. Wiring harness has been hacked at the block. I have another without the block, so you can add a modern blade type. Tank has rust, but nothing that can't be remedied. I also have a box of caliper parts to build a front caliper. 2 of the cylinders are frozen up. I'll add a caliper rebuild kit.

Bike 2 is a bit rougher. It shows 14k miles It's complete but needs some love. It is restorable. It has the same issues as bike 1 except it has brakes that work.

Both have titles, and haven't been on the road for 20 years or so. I was going to fix them up, but since I found a mint 82, I have no need. I'm not parting them out.

These should be an easy resto for someone. With some of the bikes I've seen you guys fix up, these will be easy! I'd like $550 for the pair.

I'll also work out a deal if you have some 81 body parts, or the elusive Supertrapp 4-1.

I'm located around the Asheville NC area.

did i read correctly that the engine on #1 has 2 seized cylinders or were you speaking of the brake caliber?

how cool that you have two red secas with fairings!

too bad im not close. ide jump on et least one of these, sell off the 550 maxim in the garage and then go shopping for a650 seca. then ide have a complete set. not that the wife would be too happy about that...

nice bikes. i applaud you for NOT chopping them...

Yes Dave, the brake caliper. I have 2 to go with it. Just need to get the cylinders freed up.

Thank you. I can't understand why people hack up bikes that can still be enjoyed.

    Bump... They're back.

Chacal has dibs if he is still interested.

Pick up only. I'm around the Asheville NC area.

If you plan on doing one of those Bobbers or some P 40 project with these, don't bother replying. I won't sell them to you.

RIGHT ON. WAAYYY too clean/complete to be cut up. If only LtDave had more room in Carl's garage I might jump on them (my garage is way too small but it would be WAY COOL to have a full set...) My advice would be to clean them up a bit, play "mix-n-match" with the parts (use 'em on the better of the two so you end up with one running and one "parts bike") and keep throwing them at Craig's list come spring. Kudos for not letting them get hacked up.

Yea I know that is why it is so tempting but still another couple hundred in gas to tow my trailer up and back.

Those are two, very easily restored bikes. My son turns 16 in 2009 and I think it would be too cool to have matching bikes. The only thing stopping me from buying those bikes is the 3,000 miles between here and there. Make sure the new owner signs up to this site and keeps us up to date on the bikes progress. These bikes are like kids. After they leave home, we still want to know what they are doing.

C'mon Bill; you only have one XJ. That's GOTTA be boring. You NEED another one; two even. You need a sportbike to go with the cruiser. You have all the XJ "stuff" tools, KNOWLEDGE, etc. They're calling your name...

if i was closer i would drive my truck down and take them bothe of ur hands, but the fuel cost alone would be more than the bikes, lol

    Yes I do.

IDK, fuel is pretty cheap right now.

I've picked up a couple bikes in Indiana when gas was over $4 a gallon!

I agree, fuel is not expensive. If you want a bike you should be willing to spend a buck or two to go get it.

I paid the PO $50 to drive his bike to me 70 miles away. His wife followed in their minivan and took him home.

I was ready to make the drive during Christmas vacation but my truck trans was acting up. Then I found the XS11, then the XJ550.
    Quite the deal for sure!

Dave, come on, man I live less than 20 miles away. You NEED a 550 Seca so you can sell the Max without feeling a gap in your collection.

Feel free to stash them in my garage on your way out west :)

A 550 Seca is the next to add to my collection, I just can't afford it right now.

Looks like there were a few bids, up to about $500. Seems the seller ended the auction early and cancelled all bids. Local sale, maybe?

The seller is a longtime member. He refuses to let them be parted out, which is a good thing. Maybe one of us finally worked something out with him. Woulda been me but my garage isn't big enough.
