A couple weeks ago I picked up 2 81 XJ650s for dirt cheap :) Both run (barely) and were ridden last year, but the owner was using ethanol fuel and didn't use any stabilizer over the winter and the carbs are plugged up and he didn't want to mess with it at all. I brought them home and hacked the rear frame off and started removing everything that wouldn't be used again.....turns out it was almost everything lol

I'm going to build a bobber out of each one. One will be softail (maybe) and the other will be a hardtail. One has a YICS motor that will get the eliminator tool and it has 38XXX miles, the other has 15XXX miles and that will be the hardtail bike.

I still need to order some parts as these will both be winter projects, but I do have some random parts coming in here and there so I can make some progress. The bikes are both dirty and in desperate needing of a good cleaning. I will also be replacing all of the bearings, hoses, brake pads & shoes, and anything else that comes up along the way. I plan on keeping one bike and selling the other.

Anyway enough rambling, here;s some shoddy pics to start this out. Next weekend I will be bringing them to my garage so I will have more time to tinker and I will get some better pics then.

Sorry for the blurry pics, the lighting in my parents shop isn't the greatest for cell phone pics

They both look a lot different than in the pics right now, I'll get some pics this weekend. I should have some new parts to show off too.

ha I wouldn't go that far....how about the man with two visions :)

BTW can someone tell me what bike the 4-1 exhausts come on that will fit this bike? All of the Maxim exhausts I find are 4-2 and I prefer the look and sound of a 4-1. Thanks

I finally got them to my garage last weekend, I need to rearrange my garage a little bit and I will have some room to work on them this winter. I just took one new picture, but I figured it was better than nothing

It might be a little while before another update, I'm starting a project on my house and that is taking up the extra funds. I did order some more parts and they are taking a little while to get here, so when they come in I'll throw them on and snap some new pics.
